Thane cyclone follow-up

As promised, we are pleased to give you some news from the field and in particular concerning the use of the funds you kindly granted to us.

On 4th February, 2012, the teams of our local partner, Sharana, could bring kits to 46 families in Mathur, a village in Tamil Nadu particularly affected by the cyclone. These kits included 10 kg rice, 1 kg lentils, 1 l oil, 1 kg sugar, salt and hygiene products.

A second distribution was organized on 11th February to enable 50 children to go back to school in decent conditions. Each one was provided with a schoolbag, notebooks and a schoolkit : various pencils and pens, rubber, rule, etc...

In addition, all community’s families were given toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap as well as biscuits.

The building of sanitary installations is under way but it takes some more time since it requires the mobilization of enterprises. Our local partner, Satya Special School, is preparing the various building sites and our local office ensures the follow-up.

We would like to thank you once more, and on behalf of all the teams in the field, for your contributions because these actions would not have been possible without them.
